MOVING! Thomas is absolutely captivating as a character, what an incredible wonder he is and The Colonel is a complex figure that made me both cheer and clutch my stomach.

GRIPPING! I was on the edge of my seat wondering how a talent so unique, so precious, and unconventional could disappear from the public consciousness, when his music was absolutely heavenly and his relationship with his master so unexpectedly intriguing.

Riveting! The relationships and the dynamics of the characters were fascinating in the way the white family interacted with the slave Thomas, who was a miracle, yet very different and they embraced him even when they didn’t know what made him function.

Powerful! I’d never heard of Tom before and expected to put it down since historicals are not my kind of books, but once I got started reading, I couldn’t stop, the writing was so good and had me wanting to find out what happened next.

WOW! I am so proud and happy for you and this book, unwanted, useless, left for dead, yet this little strange black boy is truly a wonder, the Eighth Wonder of the world!

INCREDIBLE! What a story, a feeble baby without sight, how could anyone have possibly known the musical treasures inside of Thomas and the wonderfully disturbing and complicated relationship between the genius blind slave and his master!

AMAZING! A southern aristocrat facing the dilemma of his life: to rescue a useless child who will only cost him money, but in doing the right thing, he discovers the little blind slave boy he saved is a musical genius!

WHOAH! Like Bibliana said, disturbing, yet gripping, a journey that’s worth embarking upon, the story a celebration that is exhilarating and makes you uncomfortable all at the same time.

IMPORTANT! I met the author at the UPS store and bought the excerpt after hearing what the novel was about and I was immediately moved. I could not stop reading when I got home. I know this is three sentences, but Thomas Bethune “Blind Tom” to the world, was America’s Mozart and his fascinating life is a legacy worth discovering!

TEN! Perfect ten, the white master as the unexpected hero and the slave as the unlikely genius who overcomes doubt and racist skepticism to enlighten the world, what an interesting, exhilarating journey.

SURPRISING! Not big on reading, not big on historical novels, and was expecting a biography, but I kept turning pages, at times I wanted to hate The Colonel, at others I saw he truly pushed for the slave and believed him, and it kept me interested seeing their uncomfortable relationship.

GIFTED! The writing is beautiful in the telling of this powerful story, a blind slave baby that no one wanted who turns out to be more valuable than all the slaves on all the plantations put together. And it’s a true story. I can’t wait for this book to come out.

BEST SELLER! This is a really good story. I like mystery, but I also like history and this has all of it in one.

MARVELOUSLY WRITTEN! The imagery is beautifully and vividly written, that it immediately transports you and draws you in to a fascinating story.
Eighth Wonder, undoubtedly, is a story I’d love to see on the big screen – a story we have not seen before – a story that should be told for the masses.
Well done A.M. Cal!

Exceptional! The last book I read was “The Help” and I could not put that book down when I read it, so “Eighth Wonder” had big shoes to follow and you know what, I COULD NOT put the book down. That amazing little slave and his frustratingly complex, yet interesting master. This book doesn’t need exaggerated praise. It will be a hit. I’m glad I got a first look!

You got me hooked! I didn’t know Thomas was blind and retarded! This is a really great story. While I was reading, I kept thinking that I wished this was my book!

Impressive! The writing is beautiful, not only about Thomas, but the setting of the old south with its grand plantations. The mistress of “Solitude” is just as interesting as The Colonel, they both gave me mixed feelings in how they treated Thomas. When’s the book coming out?

Thank You! For sharing this story with me. I love Mozart and learned to play Beethoven in middle school, now why is it, I’ve never heard of Thomas! Hurray for this compelling, amazing, gem of a novel!

Delightful! What a powerful story. I read “The Help” and I know the two are completely different stories, but in terms of how good it is, “Eighth Wonder” kept my interest just like that one did! Great job. I can’t wait for the book to come out.

LOVED IT! A very interesting and compelling story. It was a fantastic read. I have a PH.D. from Harvard in English, so tell me, why is it you get to have Thomas? I’m proud of you and the work you’ve done on this novel. I look forward to attending your book signing when the work is published.

Compelling! A very interesting read with thoughtful descriptions and constantly building tension. Thomas was a genius and it was frustrating when they kept treating him as if was a simpleton and retarded. I can definitely see this being made into a movie.

Wonderfully written! I’m so proud you’re from Seattle. I met you at the book signing and I purchased an excerpt with my husband. We both read the entire excerpt that evening. Incredible story! I love Thomas and he deserves his rightful place in history. He was an amazing talent and quite fascinating. Good luck with this. I can’t wait for the book to be published.

Beautifully written! The landscape, the emotions, the tensions between the characters, Charity’s concern for her blind, mute son and the ramifications of his behavior sending them to the fields…I was transported, turning page after page, and surprised quite a few times with the well-thought out plot. I’m anxious for the book to come out so I can read the rest.
